    LA VALLE DELLE FERRIERE

Amalfi is famous all over the world for its glorious past and for the sea. Only a few people, however, have visited its charming jewel: the natural reserve called 'Valle delle Ferriere'.
Botanists know this reserve thanks to the presence of a plant which is very rare in Europe, Woodwardia radicans: it is a so-called living fossil, that lived during Tertiary age. This is a very important example of pre-glacial age; the reserve is also the habitat of different kinds of orchids and of a small carnivore plant, called Pinguicolahirtiflora, a plant that lives eating small insects.
In the middle of this path there the ancient ironworks factory that gives its name to the valley: it provided iron to the ancient Republic of Amalfi. Since the path is easy, there is no need to use special tools or equipments: it is important to wear long trousers and comfortable shoes, fit for mountain walking. The most important thing to remember is to bring a camera to take beautiful photos.
Forgetting it would be a great mistake!

    SENTIERO DEGLI DEI

Each visitor should complete the holiday in Villa Vettica with an excursion on the famous path called 'Sentiero degli Dei'.
People start from Agerola (from a hamlet called Bomerano, 635 meters above sea level) or from Praiano (0 meters above sea level) to go to Nocelle in Positano (440 meters above sea level).
Leaving from Bomerano, visitors can walk almost completely through a descending path, in a more comfortable way, while leaving from Praiano means to go first to Serra hill (570 meters above sea level).
Landscape is everywhere wonderful; the sea accompanies the visitors and can be seen from very high spots (not recommended to vertigo sufferers).
The panorama of Capri and of Sorrento Peninsula is actually spectacular.

The vegetation of the first part of the path is made of grass and a few trees: sheep and goats graze there. In the second part of the path, there are more trees with ilexes and arbutus berries.
Now the excursionist can choose to go down the 1500 steps of the staircase to reach the road and to have the possibility to bathe in the wonderful sea of Positano or can go to Pertuso Mount (352 meters above sea level).
The path is slightly difficult. It is around 8 km long. It takes almost 2,30/3 hours to complete.

    01July

    RAVELLO FESTIVAL

From 1st July to 5th October 2017 Ravello (Salerno) free

The Ravello Festival is one of the oldest and most renowned festivals in Italy.
It began in 1953 in honour of Richard Wagner, who signed the guestbook of his local hotel with the words "The magical garden of Klingsor is found" suggesting that it was in Ravello that the composer found the inspiration for his Parsifal.

The Festival as we know it today is the outcome of a number of previous initiatives, and Girolamo Bottiglieri and Paolo Caruso were the chief architects of the annual event that led to Ravello becoming the “City of Music”. The connection between Villa Rufolo, the delightful venue made impressive and welcoming by the Scottish philanthropist Francis Neville Reid, and Richard Wagner was too alluring to pass up the idea of holding concerts in a place consecrated by the visit of the composer himself.

    In over half a century the stage overlooking the sea has hosted excellent symphony orchestras (Dresden Staatskapelle, Munchner Philharmoniker, Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Kirov Theatre, Leningrad, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestre National de France, West Eastern Divan Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra);

The festival begins with a procession during which a statue of the saint, who the locals affectionately refer to as "'o' viecchio" (the Old One), is carried to the beach.
Here, the fishermen take over and it is their job to take the statue all the way to the Duomo.
The event concludes with a beautiful firework display over the sea surrounding the Amalfi Coast.
